What it does
Shows the panchanga, the five limbs of the Hindu calendar, for any day and place:
- tithi, the lunar day
- nakshatra, the lunar mansion
- yoga
- karana, the half-tithi
- vara, the weekday
Alongside these, it shows sunrise and sunset, and the daily Rahu, Gulika and Yamaganda kalas, all for your location.
Features
- Festivals. Each festival is placed by the time-of-day rule the classical texts give for it: sunrise, midday, afternoon, evening twilight or midnight. Most apps use sunrise only.
- Anniversaries. Birthdays and shraddhas are matched by tithi or nakshatra, then added to your calendar with a reminder the day before.
- Monthly reminders. For example, every Shukla Ekadashi or every Rohini day.
- Widgets. Home and Lock Screen widgets refresh at local sunrise and sunset, and their colours follow the sun.
- Apple Watch. A standalone watch app that uses the watch’s own location.
- Daily notifications. Every day, or only on festival and reminder days.
- Settings. Amavasyanta or Purnimanta months, and Lahiri or B. V. Raman ayanamsa.
How it works
Everything is calculated on the device, with no server. The astronomy uses the VSOP87 and ELP2000 theories through the open-source SwiftAA library.
Requires iOS 17 and watchOS 10.
